JAPANESE IN NICE

July 27 2010

Yes, it is another big passion. No, it is not always BIO. But this agent just loves the japanese cuisine! And it is very healthy. So when promising you a bit of good advice from the south this summer, this will also, just like the blog, include a touch of japanese. In fact it has to, because truly, one of my best japanese meals to date I had in Nice. (I actually went back to have it 3 times while working on the assigned case in the area). A menu so delicate, so fresh, so perfectly balanced and a chocolate cake that I still dream about. Quiet surroundings to ease the mind and the most polite and pleasant service. If in the Nice area and you too have a passion for the japanese cuisine, you must not miss this little slice of heaven.

TO BIO OR NEBBIO

July 17 2010

In Oletta, a small Corsican village not far from the coast, hidden between ancient olive trees, there it is … a true BIO find: The Potager Nebbio. The young Corsican, Jeremiah Verdeau, has over the last year cultivated a farm with 2.5 hectares of great certified AB produce. One taste of his fruits and vegetables and never again will there be a doubt that BIO is in a league of its own. The melons, the tomatoes, the cinnamon basil… not to mention the olive oil with hints of dried fruits and grass! If on the beautiful island of Corsica make sure to pass by, because Jeremiah will also serve you a great meal in his little restaurant, using all his great produce in combination with organic meat from a local breeder. Maybe reason enough to plan a trip to Corsica this summer …

A tip: A big basket of mixed fruits and vegetables can be purchased on the spot … with that on the backseat you are ready to go explore the rest of the island.

THE CASE OF THE PIZZA

July 11 2010

The pizza done right and kept simple is just delicious. There is lots of proof out there, not much else to say, case closed. But no, actually not quite, because the pizza has also become one of the most disrespected and abused ways of serving fastfood to the people. Not much to do about it other than to pay attention and try to choose the real deal. And in that category there is now a great new option … Green Pizz. Yes, it’s right there in the name, we are talking about a restaurant, that serves BIO pizza and not only BIO, but also fresh, simple and so good. Lots of vegetables, but not too much, new and different options, but never too strange. Add a basket of vegetables with homemade tatar sauce or a quinoa salad on the side and you have a fulfilling meal. If you have room try the homemade cookie for dessert. Happy to announce, that a great BIO option has been added to the case of this eternal classic.

A tip: If you are so lucky that you live in the 9th arrondisement (yes!) you can have your BIO pizza brought to your doorstep – on an electric bike of course!
